2008 OTC Coverage Site

This site was created as a limited-life destination for Rigzone's news coverage of the 2008 Offshore Technology Conference. The design mixed elements of both OTC and Rigzone, intended to help visitors recognize the coverage as legitimate and sanctioned by OTC. The elements in this hybrid design would eventually influence the 2009 redesign of Rigzone.com.


Role: Project lead, oversaw all aspects of design, development and content delivery.

OTC Coverage Promotional Cards

The OTC-Rigzone Coverage logo is a hybrid of the traditional Rigzone logo and elements from the the OTC theme "Waves of Change."

The cards were created to promote the OTC-Rigzone coverage site, and were handed out on the convention floor by the Rigzone editorial staff.

OTC Daily Newsletter

Rigzone's coverage of OTC 2008 was sent to over 120,000 subscribers daily between May 5 - 8, 2008. The design of this email accommodated every type of content produced from the coverage, as well as photos taken from the convention floor.


This email was designed and tested with all major email clients, including Outlook 2007, Lotus Notes, Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo Mail, as well as IE 6, 7 and Firefox.

These banners were created to promote Rigzone's coverage of OTC 2008 with the click-thru destination being the OTC-Rigzone Coverage Site. They ran throughout the Bishop Interactive family of sites for just over 2 months.


The design and marketing concept behind these ads was to invoke the strength of the OTC and Rigzone brands, and deliver a message that conveyed the joining of the two.

Rigzone Reporter OTC 2008

The OTC 2008 Edition of the Rigzone Reporter was distributed to the normal subscriber list, but was also made available on the convention floor. Several OTC hot topics were covered in this edition. This issue also serverd a role in the larger marketing effort for OTC with mentions of Rigzone's convention presence, as well sharing some design elements with the Rigzone Coverage site.
